Martin Valencia passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 after a fierce battle with cancer. He will always be remembered for his love of and devotion to his family. He will also be remembered as having a wonderful work ethic. Martin was born in Santa Cruz, Mexico but for the past thirty years has made Montross, Virginia his home and raised his beloved family here.

Martin is survived by his parents, Juan and Carmela Valencia; his wife, Maria DeJesus Valencia; his sons: Jose A. Valencia (Luz), Juan F. Valencia (Faviola), Luis M. Valencia (Christina), and Johan A. Valencia; y his daughter Guadalupe Valencia (Devin) and five cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his bothers: Ricardo Valencia (Guadalupe), Ignacio Valencia (Alicia), and Jose Valencia (Xiomara); and his sisters: Lucinda Valencia (Jesus) and Alicia Valencia (Ramiro).

Martin was a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Hague, Virginia. He was a farmer and the love he felt for his profession was evident in the abundance of fruits and vegetables he coaxed from the Earth. His dedication to his family was evident in all that he did. He will be profoundly missed.

A funeral Mass will be said for Martin at Saint Paul’s on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Father Andrew Heintz will officiate. Burial will follow in Saint Paul’s Cemetery. The Valencia family will receive friends at Welch Funeral Home in Montross on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Martin Valencia se murió el Viernes, 30 de Agosto despues de una batalla con cancer muy feroz. El siempre sera recordado por su amor y devoción a su familia. Tambien sera recordado por ser muy trabajador. Nació en Santa Cruz, Mexico, Martin ha vivido por los ultimos 30 años en Montross, Virginia con su querida familia.

Martin es sobrevivido por sus padres, Juan y Carmela Valencia; su esposa, Maria DeJesus Valencia; sus hijos: Jose A. Valencia (Luz), Juan F. Valencia (Faviola), Luis M. Valencia (Christina), y Johan A. Valencia; y su hija Guadalupe Valencia (Devin) y cinco nietos adorados. Tambien les sobrevivan sus hermanos: Ricardo Valencia (Guadalupe), Ignacio Valencia (Alicia), y Jose Valencia (Xiomara); y sus hermanas: Lucinda Valencia (Jesus) y Alicia Valencia (Ramiro).

Martin fue un miembro de Saint Paul’s Iglesia Católica en Hague, Virginia. El era un granjero y su amor por su professión fue evidente en la abundancia de frutas y vegetales el persuadió de la tierra. Su dedicacion a su familia era evidente en todo que hizo. El sera extrañado profundamente.

Una Misa funeral sera a la Iglesia de Saint Paul’s a las 11:00 en the manana el Miércoles, 4 de Septiembre, 2019. El Padre Andrew Heintz sera officante. La familia recibirá dolientes el Jueves, 3 de Septiembre desde las 5:00 hasta las 7:00 en la tarde en Welch Funeral Home en Montross.
