John W. Welch II, Funeral Director / Owner
A Northern Neck Native with over 55 years experience. He apprenticed with Joseph W. Bliley Company, Richmond; Employed by the former Sanford Funeral Home, Montross (Subsequently purchased by Welch); Founder of Welch Funeral Home; purchased the former T.D. Marks Funeral Home in 1992, which is now the Marks Chapel and was relocated to Haynesville, Va. Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. |
J. Paul Welch II, Funeral Service Licensee / Owner
Northern Neck Native; 30 years experience; Apprenticed with Woody Funeral Home, Richmond and Welch Funeral Home; Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer; Co-owner and General Manager of Welch Funeral Home, Manager of Marks Chapel-Warsaw/Haynesville. Licensed Crematorium operator. Former President of the Independent Funeral Homes of Virginia. Former Board member of the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers. Married to the former Julie Germain in 1990. Father to Emma Douglass Welch and John W. Welch III. |
Lenna Daiger, Office Manager
Lenna joined our business is the fall of 2015. Her business knowledge and kind way with families is a wonderful addition to our funeral home family. We are blessed to have her. |
Ann Rubio, Funeral Service Licensee
Ann joined the Welch family in April of 2017. She recently became a licensed funeral director, after graduating with honors from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Ann previously worked with Riverside Hospice as a Bereavement Counselor. She will add a layer of aftercare to our family of caring professionals. Ann wants to initiate regular grief counseling sessions to help those suffering after a loss. We are lucky to have Ann, as caring for people is very important to her. |
Jessica M. Fay, Funeral Service Licensee
After moving to the city to continue her education, graduating from John Tyler, and working in Richmond for the past eight years, Jessica is delighted to finally return to her hometown and serve her community. She brings innovative ideas on how to celebrate every unique life by working closely with families to create personal and meaningful services for their loved ones. |

Sarah grew up in the Montross Funeral Home along with Paul and was helping from a young age. She recently retired from the banking industry where she had worked in Customer Service for nearly 40 years. Sarah's people skills and attention to detail will be a wonderful addition to our team. |
John Dunn, Funeral Assistant/Monument Specialist
John joined the Funeral Home in 2004. He is a Funeral Assistant, helping families through the entire process. John is also a Monument Specialist and oversees Monument lettering and setting. John is an important part of our caring for families. |
Emma Saunders, Funeral Assistant/ Intern
Emma joined our family in 2020, after graduating with Honors from Northumberland High School. She is currently serving a Funeral Service Internship and will attend Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. We are glad a local young lady has joined our team to help us care for area families. |
Dalton Moore, Funeral Assistant
Dalton joined our team in 2023. He is a Funeral Assistant who also helps in our Monument Shop as well. He is currently enrolled in Brightpoint Community College studying Funeral Service, and plans to serve an apprenticeship soon, in his journey to obtain his Funeral Service License. |
Ruth Packett, Part time office & Funeral assistant
Ruth has been with us since the closing of her business in Montross. She helps us on a regular basis in the office & is ever present, greeting people at most funerals and visitations. We are very lucky to have this sweet lady on our team. |
Karen Sanders, Montross Chapel Executive Assistant
Karen started helping assist at our Montross Chapel in April 2019. She has proved to be a great helping families using our chapel. We were lucky to have her join our team after her retirement from Richmond County Social Services. Her kind manner and disposition is a perfect addition to our Montross location. |
