Obituary for Miller Eugene "Newt" Jenkins

Miller Eugene "Newt" Jenkins, Jr., 65, of Farnham, crossed the finish line on Thursday, January 11, 2018. The son of Miller Eugene Jenkins, Sr. and Mary Annie Self Jenkins, Newt was a self-employed auto and boat mechanic.

He is survived by his mother; sisters, Ann Woolard (Henry Sr.) and Mary Carter (Lewis); nephews, Henry "Wade" Woolard, Jr. (Krista) and Ryan Carter (Angela Hart); and great-nieces, Marin Jane Woolard, Langley Anne Woolard, Taylor Maree Carter and Reagan Garnette Carter. Newt's father and beloved little sister, Jeannette "Dinky" Sanders (Jim) predeceased him.

A lifelong resident of the Northern Neck, Newt was fond of drag racing, fishing, duck decoys and animals. He was a member of the Callao Moose Lodge. Newt liked to go fast and take it slow.

Services for Newt will be held at 2 pm at Welch Funeral Home-Marks Chapel on Monday, January 15, 2018. Revered Brown of Victory Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the commencement of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Northumberland County Animal Shelter at PO Box 305 Heathsville, VA 22473.
