Hague, Va— William Scott Barnett (Bill), 73, died November 16, 2016, following a brief illness with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Scott and Katherine Barnett and his sister, Bette Bois.
He leaves his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Johnson Barnett; his son, Michael (Nancy) of Ruther Glen; his daughters, Lisa Taylor (Danny) of Ashland and Karen Richards (Tom) of King George; four grandchildren, Dylan Martin (Ginger), Heather Camphuysen (Keith), Scott Barnett, and Preston Richards; two great grandchildren, Parker and Audrey Kate Camphuysen, and many close friends.
Born in Richmond, Va., Bill attended public schools in Spotsylvania and then graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1964. He worked for the Department of Defense at Dahlgren and Crystal City until his early retirement when he formed his consulting firm of Barnett Systems, Inc.
He was involved in several community organizations. He was a Past Governor of Callao Moose Lodge No 917, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Colonial Beach, former Monarch of the Samis Grotto in Richmond, Master Mason of the Westmoreland Lodge No 212 in Kinsale, and member of the Acca Shriners, Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite local animal shelter. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service and wake to be held January 14, 2017 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Callao Moose Lodge located 968 Northumberland Highway, Callao, Virginia.
