Gary Paul Miller

Gary Paul Miller, 74, Driftwood Beach, Montross, Va., Westmoreland County, formerly of Altoona, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Westmoreland Rehabilitation Center, Colonial Beach, Va., after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul E. and Wilda B. (Gearhart) Miller.
Surviving are two daughters: Stephanie G. Linnabary (Mitchell A.) of McKinney, Texas, and Amanda L. Harper (Drew) of Snow Hill, Md.; a son, Alexander H. Miller (fiancée, Cassondra R. Ercolino) of Columbia, Pa.; eleven grandchildren: Sarah G., Abigail J. and Mikayla N. Linnabary, and Drew E., Alexis M., Victoria L., Chloe J., Amelia A., Emeline C., and Emmett P. Harper, and Ellie R. Miller; and a brother, Robert L. Miller of Hopewell, Va.
Gary was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1963 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He was a U.S. Navy Reserve veteran and retired from GPU on January 1, 2000, as Director of Labor Relations and Safety after many years of service.
Gary was a member of Warwick Lodge 336 AF&AM, Warwick, Virginia.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, where a masonic service will be held. Additional receiving of friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. in Stevens Memorial Chapel, officiated by Reverend Douglas R. McGaffin. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.
