Obituary for Dustin Max Chandler

Dustin Max Chandler, 49, of Warsaw, passed away on May 17, 2023, after a brave and lengthy battle with kidney disease. Dustin was born in Columbus, Ohio and was a construction worker until his illness prevented him from working in that capacity. He moved to the Northern Neck and made his home there for the past 22 years.

Generosity was a hallmark of Dustin’s character. It never occurred to him to not put someone else first, despite all the struggles he himself faced. Dustin had a wicked sense of humor, and his wit and charm could make anyone feel at ease. He loved cooking, gaming, animals, spending time with his family and making them laugh. He served as a father figure to his little sister Natalia and his advice and guidance helped her navigate many challenging times growing up. Dustin was a wonderful son as well as brother and he and his mother shared a close friendship as well as a mother/son bond.

Left to cherish Dustin’s memory are his adoring mother Ellen Mae Long Chandler; his beloved sister Natalia Mae Hernandez; his special friend Cynthia Fox; his uncles Wayne Long and Roger Long; his cousin Cassie Long; his best friend Dyllon, his tight group of gaming buddies; and the very loving and dedicated staff at the Tappahannock Dialysis Center - Fresenius Group, especially his nurse Corrie. Dustin had developed many friendships there over the course of his long treatment. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A private family ceremony will be held at a date in the near future. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in Dustin’s name to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
