Obituary for Raymond Stanley Brann Sr.
Raymond Stanley Brann, Sr., of Farnham, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2023 a few days after happily celebrating his 90th birthday. Raymond was the son of the late Caswell Berkley Brann, Sr. and the late Edna May Clark Brann and he was the widower of Madeline Barrack Brann. Raymond was a lifelong resident of the Northern Neck and was retired from his dual careers, as a carpenter and farmer. He was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Dedicated to his family, church, and community, Raymond lived a life of active service. He was a member of the Northern Neck Workshop Advisory Board; a member of the Richmond County Volunteer Fire Department; he served on the Cemetery Committee of Calvary U.M.C. and was an active lifetime member of the church. Raymond worked very hard and was a talented carpenter and a dedicated farmer who loved the land he worked. He adored his family and will be remembered for his devotion to them, his kindness to all and his tireless good humor.
Left to celebrate his life and legacy are his loving daughter Bonnie Brann Yerabek (Frankie) of Smithfield; his grandchildren: Matthew (Robyn), Jessica (Paul), Chris, Caleb, and Shannon; his great-grandchildren: Liam, Cain and Waylon; his beloved companion of 5 ½ years Dorothy Hall; and many other caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Greeting him at Heaven’s door are his parents; Madeline, his beloved wife of 49 years; his sons R. Stanley Brann, Jr. and Daniel E. “Danny” Brann; and his grandson Raymond S. “Stan” Brann, III.
A funeral service for Raymond will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Welch Marks Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Lahey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and burial will immediately follow the service in the Calvary U.M.C. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to honor Raymond’s service to the Richmond County Fire Department, P.O. Box 245, Farnham, VA 22460 .
