Sarah Opal Greene, age 96, of Montross, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023. She was born on March 11, 1926, in Ashe County, North Carolina to Joseph King and Mary Pasley King.

She was a Seamstress for Levi Strauss and enjoyed her job for 32 years until retirement.

Opal was an extremely loving person and enjoyed being around others. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family meant so much to her, and she will be dearly missed by them.

Opal is survived by her four sons, Bobby Greene (Linda), Larry Greene (Margaret), Gary Greene (Elizabeth), and Michael Greene; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Opal was preceded in death by both her parents, her beloved husband, Midas Newton Greene; daughter-in-law, Ruth Greene, her three brothers, James King, Carl King, and Athel King, and her sister, Othelo Stepp.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, at Grant Methodist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Bobby Greene officiating.
