Obituary for Mary Bell Harris

Mary Magdeline Bell Harris, 90, of Warsaw, Virginia passed away after a brief illness on September 12, 2022.  Mary was the daughter of the late James William Bell and the late Cora Elizabeth Hale Bell and the widow of Allie Belfield Harris.  She was a homemaker when her boys were small and then began her career as a laboratory technician at the Tappahannock Hospital, a position she held until her retirement.

Mary was selfless and caring, not only with her family, but with everyone she met.  She was kind and always put others first.  Caring for people was a passion she had and even after retirement she looked after several elderly people in the community.  She loved being a mother and grandmother and the time she spent caring for her granddaughter Lilly were some of the happiest times of her life.

Surviving her are her beloved sons Samuel Bell Harris and his wife Angela Bolling Harris, and James Belfield Harris and his wife Babette Haynie Harris; her grandchildren Travis Samuel Harris and Lilly Harris; her sister-in-law Ann Bell; her nephews Jamie Bell and William Lewis; and her niece Loretta Bell.  Mary was predeceased by her parents James and Cora; her husband Allie; and her siblings:  James William Bell, Taylor Bell, Frank Hale Bell and Catherine Elizabeth Bell.

A celebration of life will be held for Mary at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Welch Mark Funeral Home with Gary Foster officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mary’s loving memory to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org or to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
