Obituary for Murice Darnell Murchison

Murice Darnell Murchison was born on September 27, 1985, in Jacksonville, Florida to Grover and Jovita Murchison. After graduating La Plata High School, Murice began his career as an electrician with hopes to one day earn a degree in electrical engineering.

His green thumb began during his time with his grandfather. As a child, Murice spent most of his summers working at his grandfather's garden in Philadelphia, PA, and shelling peas at his uncle Herman's in Fayetteville, NC. His grandfather's friends would spoil him with ice cream and candy.

Murice purchased land in Virginia to build Crescite Farms and chose the name Crescite, from the Genesis account of the first words God spoke to man, "Crescite et multiplicamini," or "increase and multiply. "The Latin word Crescite when used in a commanding manner to a person, takes on a closer meaning to "come to be" or "grow," which is what Murice spent his entire life doing, learning, and growing, trying to become a better man.

He was proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He often told his children their hard work would pay off. He spent most of his time teaching his children the importance of dedicating their time to improving their lives. He taught them how to farm their land, grow fruits and vegetables in their garden, care for their animals, fix lawn mowers, work on their cars, and shared his knowledge of electricity.

He built a zipline in the back of the property to ensure he filled their lives with fun and laughter. He played video games, watched movies, went bowling, and visited parks and beaches with his wife and children. He loved to travel and always shared stories of traveling with his parents, brothers, and sisters across the country and vacationing at Disney World.

His greatest gift to the world was his kindness and compassion. He cared more for others than he did himself. He never hesitated to help a person in need. He was a handyman, often helping neighbors and friends with odd jobs around their homes.

Although his life was cut short, it touched many lives and will continue to touch them. He would often tell people it's all energy, and energy never dies; it's only transferred, so his energy will live on through the legacy he created in his children and Crescite Farms.

He is survived by his mother Jovita; father Grover; wife Vanessa; seven children: Danielle, Janiaya, Damien, Darnell, Destiny, Dylan, and Delilah; his brothers Grover and Richard; sisters Alisha and Antoynette; nieces: London, Saiya, Arianna, and Amiyah; and nephews Grover and Marcus V.

There will be a viewing for Murice on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 205 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.
