Obituary for Mary Ann Glass

Mary Ann Glass, 84, of Warsaw passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Halifax, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Presley Glass and the late Lena Mae Conner Glass and was the loving wife of Lonnie E. Upole. Mary Ann was retired from her position as a Sundries Coordinator at the Levi-Strauss Corporation. She was a member of Warsaw United Methodist Church.

Mary Ann was one of the most loving people you could ever meet. Her family was the greatest love of her life, and she was dedicated to making sure they were loved, fed, cared for, and felt special. This abundance of love didn’t stop with her family though. Mary Ann had love to share with everyone she met and her friends, neighbors, and co-workers can attest to the fact that being Mary Ann's friend meant that you had a friend for life. The world was certainly a brighter place for having had her in it. She is profoundly missed.

A talented artist, Mary Ann was a gifted painter, interior decorator, and gardener. Her lovingly renovated home was full of pieces that she had restored herself and walking into it one immediately felt at home. She and Lonnie took great pride in the gardens that surrounded their house. Mary Ann had the knack of making everyone feel like family.

Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her devoted husband Lonnie, her loving daughters Tammy Ford and Lynne Townsend (Jimmy); her step-daughters Andrea Upole and Erica Upole; her grandsons: Adam Townsend (Ashley), Gage Townsend, and Knate Townsend; her step-grandsons Eric, Shane and Christian; her great-grandson Link Townsend; and her dear friend Ernestine Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents Presley and Lena; her son Derrick Saunders; her granddaughter Ashley Pultz; and her grandson Bryan Pultz.

The family will hold a private memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you would honor the loving care that Mary Ann received from Riverside Tappahannock Hospice by making a donation in her memory to them at 289 Hospital Road, Tappahannock, VA 22560.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice team, especially Miss Edna Brooks.
