Obituary for Evelyn Mae Parsons

Evelyn Mae Parsons of Lewisetta died peacefully, surrounded by loving friends and family, in the very same house in which she entered the world 95 years ago.  Evelyn was the daughter of the late Captain Earl Parsons and the late Ora Lowery Parsons, the sister of the late Mary Van Wagner, and a loving friend to all.  She was retired from her position as produce manager at the Callao Supermarket after fifty years of work.  Evelyn was a lifelong member of Melrose United Methodist Church and Heathsville United Methodist Church.

Evelyn was a kind and generous soul.  She loved bowling, fishing, and playing softball. She enjoyed work where she knew and cared about each of her customers.  She loved her little town of Lewisetta and kept up with all of its comings and goings.  Evelyn was a friend to all and will be missed so much.

Evelyn is survived by her nieces Norma Lindsey (Vernon), Bonnie Williams (Vernon); great-nieces Shelly Hodges (Keith) and Heather Lindsey; great-nephew Gavin Lindsey; and numerous great-great-nieces and -nephews.  She is also survived by many dear friends:  Helen Ann and Mark Scerbo, Elaine Newcomb, Katherine “KK” Bowen, Marie Zartman, Ruth Ash, Barbara Booth, Nikki Loving, and Becky Herndon. They took very special care of Evelyn, bringing the love full circle, since most of them Evelyn had known and loved all of their lives.  She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, and her best friend and lifelong neighbor Martha Laine Rowe.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Kim officiating.  As per Evelyn’s wishes no visitation will be held, but all are welcome to attend the service.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Melrose U.M.C. Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 150, Lottsburg, VA  22511.
