Andrew Michael Cogar, 32, of Farnham, Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. He was born on April 24, 1989 in Fredericksburg, VA. Andrew leaves behind his parents Bernard “Buddy” and Cynthia “Cindy” (Ignos) Cogar of Heathsville; and his wife Katie (Douglas) Cogar and his beloved daughter Emma Rose Cogar of Farnham. He also leaves behind his brother Nicholas “Nic” Cogar and nephew Jonah B. Cogar of Warsaw, VA; his grandparents Bernard & Jane Ignos of East Falmouth, MA; his aunts Kitty (R.C.) Norris of Colonial Beach, Va, Cynthia Ayers of Webster Springs, WV, Tammy (Bobby) Meador of Franklin, VA and his uncle Joel (Perlina) Ignos of Hillsboro, WV. Andrew also leaves behind cousins: Jason Norris, Shannon Huffmaster, Jessica Ayers, Aaron Meador, Ryan Meador and Savannah Ignos. Preceding him in death are grandparents Bernard & Jessie Cogar, Mary Lou Utt; cousin Jeremey Norris; and his dear friend “like a brother” James (Jimmy) Douglas.

Andrew loved fishing and being out on the water in his boat. He loved being around family and friends. The apples of his eye were his daughter Emma Rose and his wife Katie and he adored spending time with them. He adored his parents and each of his family members deeply. Family meant more to him than anything.

Corn holing, football (Tennessee Titans), playing cards and being with others are also things Andrew enjoyed immensely. Andrew had soft spots for animals, especially his pet dogs Tucker and Petunia and his cat Medusa.

A service for Andrew will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Welch Funeral Home Marks Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend MiRhang Baek officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.
