Obituary for Patricia Marlene Higgs (Stringfellow)
Patricia Marlene (Stringfellow) Higgs, 85, of Montross, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021.
She was born: June 22, 1935-Clarion, PA. to Madison Lincoln and Cecelia Gertrude (Miller) Stringfellow (both deceased).
Patricia graduated from Clarion Senior High School in 1953; President of Class; Member, National Honor Society; Selected for Who’s Who among High School students.
Her education included: West Penn School of Nursing, Pittsburg, PA.; Durham’s Business College, San Antonio, TX.; American Institute of Banking, Washington, DC; Northern Virginia Community College, Woodbridge, VA.; and USDA Graduate School, Washington, DC.
Patricia was in banking for 10 years prior to going to the US Government in 1976. She worked for the US Civil Service Commission, the Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and retired in 2003.
Her children are: Peter Christian Jensen Brunsgaard (Marybeth); Paul Andrew Jensen Brunsgaard (killed in an auto accident in 1989); Patrice Johanna Sullivan (Jack); and Phillip James Higgs (Natalie).
Patricia’s grandchildren are: Erik and Ellen Brunsgaard; Ryan, Spencer, Leon and Lauren Sullivan; and Hannah and Hallie Higgs.
Her siblings are: Estelle Maxine (Stringfellow) McGinnis (deceased); Edythe Cecelia (Stringfellow) Rossman (deceased); and Rev. Madison Lincoln Stringfellow, Jr.
Patricia was a member of the following: AARP, Christian Seniors Association, The Seniors Coalition, National WWII Museum and Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church.
