Obituary for James Warren Slicer

James (Jim) Warren Slicer was born on January 3, 1947 in Huntington, WV to George Warren Slicer and Mabelle Chambers Slicer. He attended Cammack Elementary and Cammack Junior High, and graduated from Huntington High School in 1964. Jim was always fascinated with history and politics. After high school, he attended Marshall University and received a degree in Political Science. From the early 1970's through the mid '80s, Jim lived in Washington, DC. He worked as a management analyst for the DC Mayor's office, and was very involved in local politics, church, and the community. He helped manage various political campaigns, and volunteered as a Big Brother. During the '80's, Jim became a professional tax preparation specialist. He served as a branch manager for H&R Block, before finding a government career path with the Virginia Department of Taxation in Richmond. Jim retired in 2010, but continued working as a private tax preparer from his home in Colonial Beach, VA.

Jim passed away on December 19, 2020. Jim had two siblings, the late Robert (Bob) Mason Slicer, and Carol Lee Slicer Julian. Besides his sister Carol, Jim is survived by his niece Melanie Blair Julian (her husband Lane Savadove, and their daughter Emmeline); his niece Meredith Julian Mahaney (her husband Kevin Mahaney, and their son Arthur); his brother in law, Frank Julian; and many loving friends.
