Frank Ernest “Ernie” Reymer, 69, of Callao, Virginia passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. He passed away from Cardiac and lung issues after suffering a long and valiant battle with various health issues.
He was born on March 8, 1951 to Richard “Dick” Reymer and Betty McCormick Reymer in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his wife of over 17 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Reymer; a daughter Tiffany Reymer; a son Eric Reymer; stepsons Dustin Renter and Nick Renter; grandchildren Dean Tworkowski, Amelia Tworkowski, and Lana Renter; sisters Sherry Miller and Debby Reymer; brother Randall Reymer and brother-in-law Bryan Miller. He is also survived by stepsisters Susan Stout Breding, Carole Steinat, and Patti Mink, stepbrothers Larry Steinat and Bobby Steinat as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Richard “Dick” Reymer and Betty McCormick Reymer, his brother Rick Reymer and his stepmother Virginia Reymer.
Ernie joined the Marine Corps in February of 1970 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in 1973. Upon discharge from the USMC he joined the Falls Church Police Department in Falls Church, Virginia. After he became injured in the line of duty he was retired from the police department. He became an insurance agent and spent many years working in insurance and then began working as an investigator with top-secret clearance for the federal government. He remained in this position until his illness forced him to retire in 2011.
He was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church in Callao, Virginia and was also a member of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 1062, also in Callao. He loved fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, deer hunting, John Wayne, and the Redskins “back when they were winning”.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Welch Funeral Home in Haynesville, Virginia. There will be a walk-through visitation on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and burial will be Friday, January 8, 2021 at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. for immediate family only.
