James Willard Smith, age 99, of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was born on April 29, 1921 to James and Pinkie Smith and was a member of Menokin Baptist Church.

Willard was a retired Printer from the Naval Service Weapons Center in Dahlgren. He was an avid gardener and farmed his entire life. Willard loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with family was his greatest joy and he will be will be dearly missed by them.

He is survived by a son, James W. Smith, Jr. (Tracy); daughters, Mary S. Wilson and Nancy S. Veney (Dan); sisters, Estelle Walls, Ruth Mazmanian, and E. V. Irving; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Reamy Smith; and a daughter, Diane Akers.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December, 23, 2020 at Menokin Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jason Patrick officiating. The family would appreciate those attending to practice social distancing and wear masks when approaching those outside of their family circle. Those exhibiting symptoms should not attend.
