Obituary for Donald Thomas Matthews
Donald Thomas Matthews, age 77, of Lottsburg, VA, formerly of Prince Frederick, MD, and a member of Melrose UMC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2020. Don was an Accountant, retired in 2012 from the US-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC). Don was a jokester, had a great sense of humor, loved his family and friends, golf, playing games and cards, and his grand-dog Cyrus. Friends in Maryland will remember his coaching Special Olympics basketball for 10 years, and his love of children.
Donald is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cheryl K. Matthews; daughter, Kelli R. Matthews of Chesapeake Beach, MD; son, Brian J. Matthews of Chesapeake Beach; brother Wayne R. Matthews (Carol) of Sunset Beach, NC; 2 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lucy Matthews of Takoma Park, MD.
The family will have a memorial service to celebrate his life, most likely in 2021. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Melrose UMC, P.O. Box 150, Lottsburg, VA 22511, or to the charity of your choice.
