Obituary for Leslie Paige Simms
Leslie Paige Simms, 71, of Lottsburg, Virginia passed away at home on June 24, 2020. Originally from Alexandria, Leslie had lived in the Northern Neck for the past 25 years. She was born in 1948 to Howard Asher Simms and Elsie Louise Brown Simms. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Bethel University in McKenzie, TN and for many years worked in the hospitality industry, most notably in Washington D.C.’s Hotel Intercontinental. Her second act career was as an administrator in the Northumberland County Courts and she brought her keen intelligence and attention to detail to both careers. Leslie was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church in Lottsburg.
Leslie was predeceased by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Rebecca L. Simms of Frederick, MD; her nephews Jon Frizzell and Andrew Frizzell (Brenna); her niece Susan Tucci (Andrew), also of Frederick, MD and her great-nieces and nephew: Ariana, Olivia and Cameron Tucci.
A lover of all things outdoors, Leslie was happiest in the garden with her flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed yardwork and, befitting someone who made the Northern Neck her home, she adored the water. She was a devoted daughter and the time she spent with her parents as they aged and needed direct care is a momentous testament to that. She was a loving sister. Leslie also loved animals dearly, especially cats. She had many over the years, most recently a pair of siblings, Scamp and Ditto. They will miss her as well.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a contribution in Leslie’s name be made to your favorite charity.
