Obituary for Gladwyn Bright "Zim" Zimmerman
Gladwyn Bright “Zim” Zimmerman, Jr., age 78, of Weems, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. He was born on December 19, 1941 to Gladwyn Bright Zimmerman, Sr. and Miriam Dungan Zimmerman in Lottsburg, Virginia. He was the President of Imperial Builders for over 30 years, building some of the finest homes in the Northern Neck. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Zim was known for his quick wit and huge garden. He was a faithful member of Fairport Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Betty S. Zimmerman and his only sibling, Lola Zimmerman Wilkerson and her husband, Wayne. He is also survived by his step-children whom he loved, the Rev. Todd Brown (Carolyn), Lisa P. Brown (Wes), and Crystal D. Brown; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a nephew, Matthew Wilkerson (Tiffany), numerous cousins and his feline companions, Kitty Tom and Lucille.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Melrose United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 4836 Richmond Road, Warsaw, VA 22572 or Fairport Baptist Church, 2395 Fairport Road, Reedville, VA 22539.
