James Melvin Samuels, age 87, of Callao, Virginia, formerly of Moss Point, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. The son of Carroll Warmsley and Lillie Lee Samuels, he was born on December 2, 1932 and was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church. James was a veteran of the United States Army Police. He worked as the Productions Manager at Omega Protein and was employed there for 58 years. Known as “Big Chief”, he was a man that could fix and build anything. He loved gardening and grew orange trees.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra King (Roger), Cynthia King, and Denise Davis (Douglas); two sons, James “Jimmy” Samuels, Jr. (Helen), Michael Samuels (Rhonda); a brother, Calvin Samuels; a sister, Betty Coates; and eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Totuskey Baptist Church.
