Judy Weaver Johnson, 73, departed her Earthly life on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Born in Charleston, SC, Judy had lived in the Northern Neck since the early 1970’s with her devoted husband of fifty-five years, Wade S. Johnson. She was the daughter of Jesse Frank Weaver and Erma Leigh Briggs Weaver. She was a faithful member of Menokin Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Wade, Judy is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Lynn Johnson and Janet Leigh Johnson (all of Warsaw); her brother Jesse Lee Weaver; her sister-in-law Kay Leonard Weaver and her nieces Kim Weaver and Amy Stadiem and nephew Jeffery Johnson. She is also survived by many dear friends and neighbors.
Judy loved young people. She spent her professional life as a teacher and Reading Specialist for the Richmond County Public School system. She was an alumna of Mary Washington University. She dearly loved her church family at Menokin Baptist and served as a Sunday School teacher there. Judy also loved reading, shopping, clothes and playing bridge. Christmas was always in her heart and this is evident by her beautiful collection of Santas and nutcrackers. There was nothing, however, that brought Judy as much joy as her family. She and Wade were high school sweethearts and they raised their daughters with much love and devotion. She will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will be held for Judy at Menokin Baptist Church at a date to be announced in the future. In the meantime, if you would like to honor your memory of Judy please consider in lieu of flowers making a donation in her name to Menokin Church, P.O. Box 1135, Warsaw, VA 22572.
