Obituary for Lottie Allen Barnes (Allen)
Lottie Allen Barnes, 98, of Coles Point, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Montross, with internment to follow at Carmel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Lottie was born in Westmoreland County on September 18, 1921 to Peter Alexander and Addie Rebecca Moon Allen. She is preceded in death by her husband John W. Barnes, Sr. and her son, Herbert A. Barnes and daughter-in-law, Maureen Barnes. She is survived by her children, Ann Carpenter (Cdr.Wayne) and John W. Barnes, Jr.; grandchildren, Deborah Cordell (Col. Roger), Capt. Doug Carpenter (Jenni), John W. Barnes, III, and Lisa Neunlist; great grandchildren, Nikki Mitchell (Chris), Katie Neunlist, Sarah Neunlist, Sam Cordell and Kaden Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.
She is remembered for her work at Cople Elementary and as an Avon lady for many years. She will me missed as a mother and grandmother.
