Obituary for Garnett Lee Walker

Garnett Lee Walker, 82, of Farnham Departed his Earthly life on Friday, January 24, 2020 with his devoted wife Virginia at his side. Garnett was the son of the late Herbert Gordon Walker and Inez France Walker and had been married to Virginia May Parr Walker for 59 years. He was a retired service Technician at Verizon and a member of Rappahannock Church of Christ.

Garnett was predeceased by his beloved son Tony Wayne Walker; his brothers John Garland Walker and James Edward Walker; and his nephews John John Walker and Butch Walker. In addition to his wife Virginia, Garnett is survived by his adopted family: Norman, Debbie, Rob and Chonna Tolson; his sisters-in-law: Joyce Walker, Diane Walker and Gertrude Miller; his nephews: Bruce Walker, Kevin Walker, Michael Walker and Douglas Miller; and his niece Debbie Miller.

Garnett loved to keep his hands busy. He loved woodworking and enjoyed tinkering with many things around the house and yard. When he retired from Verizon after more than twenty years of service, he kept busy. He loved music and played the bass guitar. Being very generous of spirit, Garnett loved to share his music and played often for local nursing home residents. Garnett adored his kitty cat Precious and spoiled her rotten. He will best be remembered for being a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

A funeral service for Garnett will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Welch Funeral Home in Warsaw at 2:00 p.m. Reverends Walker Gaulding and James Ward will officiate, and Ms. Sharon Mann will sing. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery in Farnham.
