Obituary for James Doggett Davenport
James Doggett “Jimmy” Davenport, 66, of Heathsville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Jimmy was a retired building contractor and farmer. Jimmy was also a very skilled cabinet builder that took great pride in his craft. He was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Jimmy was a former member of the Northumberland/Lancaster County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
He is survived by his sister Katherine Davenport; loving cousins Lillian Booth Kues (Dennis), their son Zach (Amanda) of Heathsville; Bess Booth Price (Danny), their son Thad (Chloe), all of Dripping Springs, Texas; special friend of many years, Steven Rue Smith of Heathsville; and numerous cousins and close friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Rock Davenport, his mother Lady Corrie Doggett Davenport Gough, and his father, James Emmett Davenport.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2019 at 11 AM at Hopewell United Methodist Church, 8236 Ridge Rd, Lancaster, Virginia, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
