Susan Brooks Ferrett, 80 of Kinsale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2019, surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of the late Charles Southwick Ferrett. She was a member of Cople Parish where she served for 10 years on the Altar Guild, and was a retired nurse. She and her husband were avid sailors, often sailing to Marathon, FL for the winter. They also traveled by canal boat, cranking the lochs open by hand. Sue was a Master Gardener and a member of the Westmoreland Garden Club. She was also a stained-glass artist and she happily shared her artwork as gifts. She had a love of outdoors and nature.
Sue and Charlie loved to travel to England where they would drive through the countryside enjoying the small towns, exploring history and visiting inns.
Prior to living in Virginia, the family lived in Churchville, Maryland, where they raised their children. Sue was an avid reader and raised her children with the love of reading and shared many of her favorite stories and books with her grandchildren, including Stone Soup and Make Way for Ducklings. Anyone who played Scrabble with her came away having learned challenging vocabulary words.
Sue leaves to cherish her memory her son Charles Brooks Ferrett and his wife Patricia Tyler Ferrett of Alexandria, VA, two daughters; Sally Ferrett, of Alexandria and Susan Stough and her husband Mike Stough of Richmond, VA, her brother George H. “Skip” Brooks and wife Carol, of Richmond, VA.
She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Laura Stough, Michael Stough and Carolyn Stough who love their “Amma” immensely.
The family extends special thanks to Rosemary Wilson and Barbara Jackson for their devoted care and friendship to our mother and to Rev. Ellen White for pastoral care and friendship.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church, Kinsale, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Riverside
