Ronald Lee Alexander, 79, of Heathsville, passed away at home on Saturday, August 3, 2019. He graduated from Washington & Lee High School, Arlington, VA in 1957. He retired from the printing industry in 1989. Ron owned a boat that he kept at Olverson’s Marina which brought his family to the Northern Neck every weekend. Ron & friend, Mike Rinick, built his waterfront home which he & Peg moved into in 1989. He didn’t like sitting still. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, boater, gardener and loved working in the yard. He simply loved to just be outdoors doing anything. He loved cruising in his Corvette and belonged to the Northern Neck Corvette Club. He adored his grandchildren, and spending time with them was a highlight of his life. He belonged to the Callao Moose Lodge where he was the Sports Tournament Director. He played pool and he played it well. Lately, with Nancy, Ron became a snowbird-spending his winters in Florida where he picked up golf again and thoroughly enjoyed it. Baseball was a passion and he loved the Washington Nationals. He loved football too; especially cursing at the Redskins.

Ron is survived by his sons, Donald Alexander (Nancy) of Burke, VA and Kirk Alexander (Tammie) of NC; daughter, Kelli Hamblin (Mike) of Heathsville; brother, Wayne Alexander (Annie); sister, Gloria Hall (Wyman); Eight grandchildren, Steven, Joey, Mark, Ryan, David, Nicole, Colin & Brianna; and partner & best friend, Nancy Rinick.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Alexander and Edith Ann Marcey Alexander; and wife, Margaret “Peg” Wolf Alexander.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Welch Funeral Home-Marks Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad at 7990 Northumberland Hwy. Heathsville, VA 22473 or Hospice of Virginia at PO Box 2098, Tappahannock, VA 22560.

Was looking for information about my first employer and saw RA's obituary. My condolences to his family. I was a typewriter back in 70's.

We will miss Ron as a member in good standing of the Northern Neck Corvette Club. Every time I pass the the White Stone bank parking lot I think of Ron as a key Event Leader in the club. His Corvette was usually first in line to lead the caravan. He will be missed.

My first real corporate job was with Bru-El Graphic in Springfield, VA. I was introduced to Ron Alexander "RA" by Bill Eldridge who hired me for a typesetting position. Ron was instrumental in getting me started as a typesetter on the Photon 200 under the tutelage of Ed White. The company was like family to everybody as it started to become established. RA and Bob Clatterbuck started an in-house softball team. We weren't great, but we had a lot of fun in the league. We would play our hearts out and looked forward to the after game celebrations at 7-11. Ron was a friend first, and co-worker second. He loved his fishing, softball, employees and most of all his beautiful family. Peggy prepared her famous bluefish salad after a day out on the boat. Kirk, and Kelli too, were always playing around and having fun during our ballgames. I offer the family of Ron Alexander my deepest sympathies and condolences. He is at peace now.

We meet Ron when he decided to become a SNOWBIRD. Have lots of fond memories of him and Nancy sitting on the patio enjoying the Florida SUNSHINE. May God keep you in his arms forever.
