Obituary for George Dixon "Dickie" Dawson

George Dixon “Dickie” Dawson, age 85, of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served as a guard for Queen Elizabeth during her 1957 visit to West Point Military Academy. Dickie was also a retired Salesman for American Bakeries and operated Dawson’s Greenhouses. Dickie was an avid woodworker, loved gardening and building Purple Martin houses.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Dawson, who he married in Totuskey Church on October 7, 1956.
He is also survived by sons, Kevin Dawson and his wife, Donna of Grafton, Ohio, and Brian Dawson and his wife, Gabrielle of Callao; granddaughters, Haley D. Deihl (Joel) and Kelsey Anne Dawson; a great-grandson, Henry Deihl; a brother, Garnett Dawson; sisters, June Wilkins (Clem) and Nancy Jett (Thomas); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May, 9, 2019 at Totuskey Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Totuskey Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Totuskey Baptist Church.
