Mrs. Joyce Woolard Sullivan, 80, of Sharps, Virginia peacefully left her Earthly life on Saturday, March 16, 2019. She was born on August 31, 1938 in Emmerton, Virginia. She married her lifetime sweetheart, Franklin Mitchell Sullivan in 1957. They were married for 62 years. She was a dedicated member of both Jerusalem and Farnham Baptist Churches where she served as pianist, organist, teller, and President of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was retired from the Virginia Employment Commission, where she worked as an auditor. For over 20 years Mrs. Sullivan volunteered with the Rappahannock General Hospital Auxiliary where she served for two years as President. Joyce loved to cook and was an avid baker. She was a Christian woman who loved her friends, family and her church.
Joyce is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Becky and Thom Davis; Carlie and Noel Woolard; Linda Lewis; Jean White; and Deborah Gordon; and sister-in-law Hazel Johnson. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, Joyce was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Sullivan, her parents, M. Randolph Woolard and Helen Lee Mothershead Woolard, and brother Norman Carlie Woolard.
Services will be held on Friday March 22, 2019 at Jerusalem Baptist Church at 11:00 with the Reverend Kenny Park officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery with a fellowship reception immediately following.
