MARTHA GENTRY COATES WELCH, aged 90, of Indianola Farm, Heathsville, VA, died on Tuesday, January, 22, 2019. She was born in Charlottesville, VA to W. Bryan and Mable Foster Gentry.

She is survived by her husband, John W. Welch, II; children, A. Bliss Coates, III (Diane), Elizabeth (Beth) Hopson (Robert), Bryan G. Coates (Marvette), and Laura (KK) King (George); step-children, Sarah W. Hughes (Jonathan) and J. Paul Welch, II (Julie); 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by the father of her children, Adaler B. Coates, Jr. and her granddaughter, Rebecca Sims.

She was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Lyells, VA and a devoted Sunday school teacher for over 50 years.

Services will be held at Beulah Baptist Church, Lyells at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.

A reception will be held immediately following the service at Bethany Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Callao, VA.

Interment will be private.
