Maria Taormina Volo, 56, of Warsaw, Virginia departed her Earthly life on Saturday, December 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a brave and mighty 22 year battle with cancer.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Antonio; her mother Rosa Armetta Taormina of Carini, Sicily; her daughters: Rossella Volo, Francesca Fogarty (James), both of Warsaw and Jessica Maria Daneker (Thomas) of Richmond; her son Salvatore Volo (Maria Todd Bradshaw) of Warsaw; her sisters: Caterina T. Wright (Kevin) of St. Albans, VT, Anna Tollo (Pietro) and Patrizia Caruso (Stefano) both of Carini, Sicily. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Giada Marina, Melania Sofia, and Johnluca Tyler. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Francesco Taormina.

Along with her husband she was the proprietor of Anna’s Italian Restaurant in Warsaw and Kilmarnock, Virginia. Arriving in Virginia from Sicily almost forty years ago, they created a wonderful life that centered on their family and business. Maria was an excellent cook and had an inspiring work ethic. She was simple, yet elegant and kind. A faithful member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Tappahannock, her faith was extremely important to her. Above all, Maria was a loving wife, a devoted mother and the most amazing grandmother.
