He was a Carmel United Methodist Church member, a founding member of the Callao Ruritan Club, as well as a member of the Heathsville Masonic Lodge and Acca Temple Shrine, where he was a member of the Legion of Honor. He later worked as a grain inspector and ran a local granary in Nomini Grove; he then began his employment with the State Health Department as a Sanitarian. He was a real outdoor person who loved gardening and cared for the local ball fields, but was better known for being a kind and wonderful father and grandfather by his loved ones.
