Obituary for Nicholas Joseph Milos

Print
Nicholas Joseph Milos, 85, of Montross, Virginia, formerly of New York City, passed away at home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 with his wife, Lynn at his side. He was the retired owner of Milos Marketing (a home textile marketing firm) and was a member of Cople Episcopal Parish where he previously served on the vestry. Nick had many talents and varied interests and he will be deeply missed.

Born in Atlantic City, Nick graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York City and was drafted into the United States Army and served proudly during the Korean War. Upon his return he attended and graduated from Seton Hall University while working in the home textile industry, eventually owning his own firm Milos Marketing in New York City where he lived for many years. He also served as President of the National Bed, Bath and Linen Association. In addition to being a consummate salesman he was excellent athlete. As a young man he was invited to try out for the New York Yankees. He loved hockey and played and coached into his sixties. He was an avid golfer and on vacations could frequently be found surf casting in the Gulf of Mexico off Siesta Key, Florida. Nick loved animals and shared his life with several beloved dogs and cats over the years, and in retirement enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, wild turkeys and deer in his back yard in Cabin Point Virginia. A passionate history buff, there were few details regarding the Civil War or World Wars that Nick didn’t know.

Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn Cole McFadden. He is also survived by his children and stepchildren: son Michael Milos; daughters Mary Miller (Glen) and Lisa DiDonato (Joseph); stepson Ashton McFadden; and stepdaughter Clarissa McFadden (Marcus Winn). Also left to cherish his memory are nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his brother- and sister-in-law Bill and Barbara Cole. Nick was predeceased by his brother Frank Milos.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you honor your favorite memory of Nick by making a donation to Cople Episcopal Parish, P.O. Box 249, Kinsale, Virginia 22488.

A Memorial service to honor the life of Nick will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Yeocomico Episcopal Church and it will be followed by a reception there in Ameslee Hall.
