Obituary for Margery McGrath (Shank)

Margery Shank McGrath, 96, of Kinsale, VA , widow of John Kilby McGrath, Jr., passed away on Thursday morning October 4, 2018. She had suffered a stroke on September 26, but it did not take away her speech. She was was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a Historical Interpreter at Stratford Hall Plantation who trained many younger guides, leading with laughter and delight. Those of us privileged to serve with her, with Julia Newman and Ethel Bush can well imagine the joy she will take in finally meeting the Lee family members whose lives she depicted so faithfully to so many visitors in Stratford's hayday. She was a loving and caring person who was devoted to family and friends. She was loved and will be missed by many.
Margery is survived by five daughters, Pat Flora (Mike) of Chesapeake, VA, Pam Hancharick of The Villages, FL, Kitty McGrath of Port Republic, VA, Jackie Kriese (Joe) of Copperas Cove, TX and Bridget McGrath Moss (Michael) of Kinsale.
