On March 22d, Mary Carol Mulvany of Coles Point, Virginia left this life with the same grace and beauty that she lived it. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 12, 1942 to Leslie Howard Dawson, Jr. and Frances Lorraine Dawson. Her grand parents were Harry and Alma Phillips and Leslie Howard Sr. and Annie Celeste Dawson of Richmond.
She is survived by her husband James E. (Jim) Mulvany Sr., son; James E. Mulvany, Jr. of Quepos Costa Rica; daughters, Anne L. Mulvany of Mechanicsville, Virginia: Susan R. West (Brian) of Fruitland Maryland, Jennifer L. McBrien (Chris) of Columbia, Maryland and five grandchildren, Madison L. and Thomas C. West, Calvin J. Mary Carol was a proud member of the first graduating class of Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. She subsequently attended Longwood College where she was awarded and Associated of Arts Degree in Secretarial Science. While attending Longwood she met and subsequently married the love of her life, Jim, a student at the University of Richmond. Upon Jim’s graduation she became a full-time wife and mother, a vocation that she loved dearly and at which she excelled. Over the following years she was involved as a volunteer in many scouting, youth sports and community activities. She could never say no to an opportunity to contribute and was always one of the first asked to serve.
Upon retirement, she and Jim found a lovely home on the Lower Macadoc Creek in Coles Point, Virginia where she enjoyed the relaxed Northern Neck life style entertaining family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church, 7339 Atlee Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that you donate to a charity of your choice. The family also wishes to thank Jennifer Taylor, Tammy Veney and the staff of the Riverside Tappahannock Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Mary Carol.
