Glenmore Elwood France, 80, of Newland passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. He retired as a Correctional Officer with Virginia Department of Corrections. He was also a former Deputy in South Carolina and Richmond County and was a self-employed Waterman and Farmer.
Glenmore is survived by his son, Wayne France (Tracey) of Warsaw; two daughters, Tammy Garber (Stewart) of Aylett, and Misty France (Shane) of Tappahannock; a brother, Kenny France; four sisters; Cassie Haynie, Ruth Chapel, Ellen Burruss, and Jennie Bishop; four grandchildren, P. J. Olten, Tanner France, Destiny France, and Zoey Adkins; one great-granddaughter, Maisie Olten; and longtime companion, Margaret Moss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Alice France; two brothers, Myers France and Jack France; and two sisters, June Packett and Florence Marks.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Newland Church of Christ. The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow the service in the Newland Church of Christ Cemetery.
