Obituary for April Ticknor Davis

April Louise Ticknor Davis was born February 23, 1956 in Brisbane Queensland Australia to Francis Bonner Ticknor and Irene Joyce Mullins Ticknor. April graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington Virginia in 1974. She graduated from Mary Washington College in 1978. While at WMC she was a member of the MWC Choir and the College Community Chorus. April was a member of the Phi Psi chapter of the honorary music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon. The American Guild of Organists and the Music Educators National Conference. April also was published in the college literary magazine the Aubaud.

After graduating from college April taught elementary music in the Richmond County Schools system for nine years. April married her loving husband A.D. Davis of Sharps Virginia October 1981. During their 34 plus years of marriage she loved living in her beautiful old house in the very special village of Sharps on the glorious Rappahannock River. During this time she sang with the Tappahannock Community Chorus, and the Richmond Symphony Chorus. April was named Outstanding Young Women of America in 1985. April was a very active member in the Rappahannock Community Concert Association serving both as Vice President and President. April also performed with the Westmoreland Players. From 1987 the birth of her first son, Richard Clarence Davis until 1994, April was a full time mother to her two son Richard and Andrew Bonner Davis born July 4th 1991. At this time she was also a caretaking for her aging parents who die in 1993. April also was the choir director and pianist for Milden Presbyterian for many years. In 1994 April taught part time for two years at Woodland Academy. In 1996 she resumed teaching in Richmond County now with expanded certification to teach k-3rd grade. April spent the rest of her teaching career loving and teaching Kindergarteners. This would be a total of 27 years teaching in Richmond County. April was a passionate person. Whatever she did she put her whole heart into it. She was a loving passionate person. Whatever she did she put her whole hear into it. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and teacher. She loved all her family she was responsible for Ticknor Family Reunions and her annual Davis Family Christmas Brunch. She was currently serving as an active elder on the Session at Milden.

The Rev. Richard L. Sommers and the Rev Charles Blasdell will conduct the service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Milden Presbyterian Church in Sharps, Virginia.
