Katherine D. Edwards (Kitty) resident of Farnham, Virginia, age 92, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Farnham.
She was born August 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Norman and Madeline Edwards.
Kitty attended Farnham High School, St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, Longwood College, Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing, and Charity School of Anesthesia, New Orleans, LA. She retired in 1988 from Medical College, Richmond, Virginia in the Nursing/Anesthesia profession with 44 years of service and returned to Farnham, VA.
She was in the Army Nurse Corp from 1944-1946.
She was a member of North Farnham Episcopal Church for 81 years and was a member of the Vestry and the Episcopal Church Women.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Norman L. Edwards and one nephew, Norman Marshall Edwards.
Kitty is survived by one brother, L. Ward Edwards (Dottie) of Winchester, VA; three nieces, Dr. Katherine Edwards (Mark) of Ventura, CA, Jayne Jackson (Brad) of Madison, VA and Deborah Edwards of Monroe, VA; one nephew, Norman L. Edwards of Richmond, VA and three cousins, Anne Grigg of Richmond, VA, William Kennerly (Nancy) of Annapolis, MD and Garland (Max) B. McKenney (Margaret Anne) of Warsaw, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at North Farnham Episcopal Church, 231 N. Farnham Church Road Farnham, VA 22460 with Rev. Peter Hogg and Rev. Brad Jackson officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at North Farnham Episcopal Church.
Reception will follow in the North Farnham Episcopal Church Parish House.
