Robert Glenn Branich, 61, of Montross, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2018. From an early age, Glenn’s desire was to become a professional firefighter. He “hung out” at the WVFD where firemen took him under their wings until he was able to join the Department. He participated in many training classes and contests and gave many hours of service throughout the years. He became a firefighter at NSWC, Dahlgren where he advanced to Assistant Chief before retiring at age 50. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing and hunting and especially his dogs. He also enjoyed carpentry and woodworking projects. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, Life member of Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department, Colonial Beach Masonic Lodge #199 AF&AM, various hunt clubs, and was a field trial judge for the Fox Hunters Association.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Sheila Brabant Branich; sister, Jane Kaye Sisson (Les) of Montross; brother, Leslie Branich (Cindy) of Richmond, VA; nephew, Brent Sisson (Sandy) of Montross; niece, Paula Berry (Kevin)of King George, VA; stepson, Michael Cote of Ashland, VA; and stepdaughter, Stephanie Dove of Fredericksburg, VA. He is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Michael and Lorraine White Branich and a special aunt and uncle, Mamie and John Hennage.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Providence United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
