Charles M. Allen, Sr. 87, a lifelong resident of Westmoreland County, passed from this world on August 21, 2018. Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Broaddus E. Allen; his two children, Charles M. Allen, Jr. (Kathleen) and Diane Schwarting (Alan), four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mr. Allen served aboard the USS Norris, off of the coast of Korea, and was a member of the Montross post of the American Legion for 61 years. Mr. Allen later retired from a career of law enforcement with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission.
A visitation will be held at Welch Funeral Home in Montross, VA from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Funeral services will be presided over by Rev. Danny Maupin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26th at Ephesus Christian Church in Foneswood, VA. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
