Verna Lee Jenkins Bateman, 80, of Prince Frederick, Maryland, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018. She was retired as Administrative Assistant at Andrews Air Force Base and a founding member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles in Waldorf, MD.
She is survived by her son, David L. Bateman (Lisa) of Ridgeview, WV; daughter, Sandra L. Cleary (James ) of Prince Frederick, Md; grandchildren, Michael Bateman, Brittany Bateman and Brian Bateman, Spc. Adam Matthews US Army, Josh Matthews and great grandchildren, Anthony Bateman and Brooke Bateman. She is also survived by sisters, Margaret Wiley of PA, Erma Hysell of Waldorf, MD and sister-in-law, Molly Jenkins, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Raymond and Fannie Sanders Jenkins; brothers, Allen Jenkins, Everett Jenkins and Percy Jenkins and sisters, Louise Darnell, Elsie Hanger and Ruth Behl.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Rappahannock Baptist Church, Newland, VA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
