. Betty Carole Townsend, of Montross, VA went to be with the Lord in eternal peace on Sunday, July 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 21, 1941 to George M. and Dorothy W. Belew.
Betty retired from Westmoreland Health Care as the Activities Director where she cared for, comforted and brightened the days of her residents. She was also a past member of the Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. She battled cancer four times, winning her battle, she now is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert Edward (Bobby) Townsend, Sr., her daughters Kathy Smith (Keith) and Kelley Langford (Kenny), sons Robert Townsend (Jessica), Jeff Townsend (Karen) and Andy Townsend as well as her nine beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her most favorite thing in life was spending time with her family; especially camping and family gatherings. The family was blessed by the loving care provided by her nephew John Cullen and Miss Debbie Smith.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at Popes Creek Baptist Church at 9131 Kings Highway, Montross, VA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Betty Townsend Fund at Union Bank and Trust, Montross, VA. For those who knew Betty, you will know that she will “Love You Long Time”.
