Rev. Curtis H. Hawks of Richmond, Virginia formerly of Callao, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born in on July 31, 1928 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina to Hubert and Pencie Hawks.

He was the former Pastor of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, Virginia; Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Martinsville, Virginia; Bethany Baptist Church in Callao, Virginia for 29 years, and was the interim Pastor of Curriomon Baptist Church in Montross, Virginia for 12 years.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 70 years, Reba R. Hawks; sons, Stephen W. Hawks (Rea), Skip Hawks (Debbie); son-in-law, Ed Briggs; three grandchildren, Rachael Hawks Faigle, Amanda Hawks Estes, and Dana Hawks Stevens ; six great-grandchildren, Michaela Estes, Ella Estes, Claire Worsham, Nathan Stevens, Jeanette Stevens, and Natalie Stevens; and sisters, Elvie Holder and Carrie Sutphin.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Hawks Briggs and a daughter-in-law, Pat Hawks.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Bethany Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held in the church immediately following the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Marks Chapel of Welch Funeral Home.
