Barbara Coates Owens, 93, of Montross, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017. Mrs. Owens was the widow of James C. Owens, Sr. She is survived by her son, James C. Owens, Jr., of King George; her daughter, Julia “Judy” Sandy (Ricky), of Reedville; three grandchildren, Susan Straughan, Julie Owens, and Justin Sandy; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Coates. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by: her parents, Frank F. Coates, Sr., and Grace Gutridge Coates; and three siblings, Frank Coates, Jr., Edna Adkins, and Margaret Wholey. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery.
