Obituary for William Melvin Lewis

William Melvin Lewis, 76, of Farnham, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017. He was a retired firefighter in Washington D.C., an Air Force Veteran, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church who loved his family and many friends.

William is survived by his wife, Connie Murphy Lewis; son, Mitchell Lewis of Brandywine, MD; daughter, Lori Lewis Rye (Mike) of Leonardtown, MD; sister, Jean Lewis of Callao; grandchildren, Mike Rye, Jr., Jordan Rye, Cal Rye, and Conner Rye; godson, Konnor Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His two passions were “old car and guitars”. He was involved in country and gospel through the Cimmarons Country Music Band for 30 years, the Gospelaires Group for 10 years and the Reunion 5 Gospel Group for 20 years. He was also an original member of the Northern Neck AACA and enjoyed restoring, showing, and cruising with the antique cars.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Bethany Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm prior to the funeral service.
