Obituary for Charles Richard Hammack

Charles Richard Hammack passed away July 21, 2017 at Farnham Manor, Farnham, Virginia at the age of 85. Mr. Hammack was a graduate of Farnham High School and attended Maryville College in Maryville, TN. He joined the US Navy in 1951 ending his career in 1955 after serving on the USS Intrepid CVA II as a Photographer’s Mate 2nd Class. After leaving the navy he worked for Ernest Y. Brooks in Warsaw and then for Tidewater Telephone Co. which later became Contel. He retired from Contel in 1987 after 29 years of service.

He is survived by his sister, Anne Hammack Peterson of Austin, Texas; nieces Susan Peterson-Smith of Garland, Texas, Anne Peterson-Hahn of Austin, Texas and Christa Peterson Stanley of Kosse, Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00am at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Emmerton, VA with the Rev. Kevin Elmore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson ’s Disease Foundation, 7700 Leesburg Pike, Suite 208, South Lobby, Falls Church, VA 22043
