William H. Bryant, 83, of Farnham, Virginia, formerly of Pomfret, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his home. Born August 9, 1933 in Dentsville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Julia Courtney and Edgar Bryant.
Bill met his wife of 64 years, Ellen Mae Miller, at La Plata High School, LaPlata, Maryland, in 1950. He served in the US Army as a pole lineman, and continued his military career as a sergeant in the National Reserve until 1958. He began his fifty-three year career in building construction at the age of seventeen. He worked as a superintendent for Alton Engineering Company in Washington, D.C., and for P.W. Parker Incorporated in Washington, D.C. Ultimately, he presided as President of his own company, The Bryant Corporation General Mechanical Contractor in Waldorf, MD, from 1985 until his retirement in 2003. A carpenter, mechanic, and fisherman at heart, he enjoyed the challenge of restoring boats and antique cars. Listening and dancing to country music was a source of enjoyment throughout his marriage, and in recent years he shared it annually with friends and neighbors by hosting a fall gathering at his home, Kendilfair. Bill will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty to his family and friends, fierce patriotism, turn of a phrase, and easy smile.
Bill is survived by his faithful partner Ellen; his daughters Lynne Kennedy (Mark Kennedy), Holly Bryant (Kyle Wilson), and Billie Faircloth (James Faircloth); his grandchildren Jennie Caddell, Stephanie Ransom, Madeline Dhillon, Courtney Dhillon, Savannah Dhillon, and Calliope Faircloth; his great grandchildren Christopher Norris, Haley Norris, Norman Norris, and Justin Norris; and his sister Bertha Bryant.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Camalier Bryant, sisters Cecile Bryant and Barbara Thompson, and his grandson Lucas Faircloth.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Christ Church Wayside, 13050 Rock Point Road, Newburg, MD, 20664, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:30 PM. A reception will follow the service in the church's parish hall.
