Obituary for William Patrick Dodson

William Patrick Dodson was born in Mulch, Virginia (now Farnham) on May 5, 1939 to David and Alease Dodson. He passed away in his sleep on April 6, 2017 after a long illness and now is in peace with his Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Louis J. Dodson. He leaves behind his wife, Judith C. Dodson, who loves him with all of her heart. He is also survived by three children from a former marriage, Patrick, Gary and Cindy; and two grandchildren, Tiffany and Justin, who he truly loved.

William retired from the City of Richmond after thirty years of service, but his true love was serving his country in the United States Army and Army Reserves for thirty years, earning the rank of Master Sargent with the 80th Division. He was a member of the American Legion Post 401 in Warsaw, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. William was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church since birth and enjoyed cooking at church functions and substituting for his wife at the Methodist Women’s functions. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and being with friends. He will be truly missed by his family and community.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Oakland United Methodist Church. Casual attire is requested. A reception luncheon will follow the service.

Any memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to Oakland United Methodist Church, 3223 Oakland Rd, Farnham, VA 22460.
