Obituary for Edith Louise Williams (Jordan)

Edith “Edie” L. Jordan Williams, 67, of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. Jordan, Sr. and Lorna Jordan; and her brother, John J. Jordan, Jr. She is survived by her husband, David Williams; daughter, Jennifer McCaleb and husband, Richard; daughter, Erin Taliaferro and husband, Daniel; seven loving grandchildren, Jordan and Jacob McCaleb, and Bella, Padgett, Delancey, and Hawkins Taliaferro; and sister, Marie Northern.

For 41 years, Edie served the Richmond County school system as the Director of Finance, earning a host of awards and building international affiliations that brought recognition at the highest levels of school business organizations. Included in those accomplishments were her election as President of the Virginia Association of School Business Officials (VASBO), her election to the Board of Directors for the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), and her receipt of the Cardinal Award for Outstanding School Business Official 2008-2009. Edie was also a key contributor to numerous committees for the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia School Board Association.

Edie was a devoted member of the Rappahannock Church of Christ, where she participated in many activities, her favorite being the annual Christmas play. When she was not in church, she most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, serving those in need in her community, and photography.

She was an incredible woman with a remarkable legacy of godliness, faith, hope and love. Her love of the Lord and her family embody what was most important to her.

A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Rappahannock Church of Christ at their new location: 4324 Richmond Road, Warsaw, VA 22572. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and there will be a celebration of life reception following it. If you are able to attend, Edie requested that everyone wear red.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
