Obituary for Helen Amanda King (Ferenbaugh)

Helen A. King, 86, of Irvington, formally of Montross, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Mrs. King graduated from Columbus School for Girls, Columbus, Ohio. Attended Dennison University in Granville, Ohio and graduated with a degree in Theater Arts. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was involved in the Summer Stock productions at Dennison University. She attended Vassar College, Vassar, New York receiving credits in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. King was a member of Cople Parish where she was very active in the vestry and choir and ECW (Episcopal Church Women). She was a longstanding member of the D.A.R. for 65 years; a member of the Westmoreland Players, The Westmoreland Garden Club, a member of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities and a Volunteer in the Executive Office of the White House.
She is survived by her husband, U.S. Coast Guard Retired Captain William L. King, two daughters Christina L. Spears and husband Sean of Ringwood, NJ and Tove King and husband James McCane of Port Wentworth, GA. Also surviving are two grandchildren Christa Spears and William Spears.
She was preceded in death by her parents Colonel Thomas Ludlow Ferenbaugh and Helen Elise Barker Ferenbaugh.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Yeocomico Episcopal Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Welch Funeral Home, Montross Chapel.
